Pro-Life Speaker & Abortion Survivor
In 2020, Michele Smith discovered a life-changing truth: she survived an aggressive chemical and saline abortion attempt in the womb—a secret her mother carried for nearly 60 years. Over the course of three days, her mother was given 54 chemical abortion pills along with multiple saline injections into her belly. Miraculously, Michele survived.
For most of her life, Michele wrestled with deep feelings of rejection and shame, never fully understanding their root. The trauma of having survived an abortion attempt on her life left a wound she couldn’t name—until she learned the truth. That revelation not only answered years of silent questions but became the starting point of healing. Today, she stands firmly in the knowledge of who she is: not only an abortion survivor, but a daughter of God, redeemed, chosen, and given purpose through Christ. Her story is now one of restoration and identity anchored in Him.
Though the chemicals used in her attempted abortion differ from those used today, Michele’s survival is a sobering reminder that chemical abortions—then and now—do not always end a life. Her testimony highlights the deep physical, emotional, and spiritual wounds these attempts can leave behind. As the epidemic of at-home chemical abortions rises, Michele’s voice is a compelling witness: babies survived them then—and they are still surviving them now.
The births of three grandchildren—each conceived in unexpected pregnancies and born just weeks apart—further deepened her conviction that every life is a gift, regardless of the circumstances.
Michele served as a 2024 Global Ambassador for the Abortion Survivors Network and currently leads Sabine Parish Citizens for Life. She also co-leads More Than Sisters with her biological sister and fellow abortion survivor, Rose Fenchel. Together, they share a powerful, unified testimony of survival, redemption, and hope. Michele and Rose are available to speak together or alone at churches, banquets, pregnancy center events, schools, and more—bringing not only their story but the truth of Christ’s healing love to audiences of all kinds.
Together with her husband Louis, Michele co-founded Louie’s Pizza & Prayer, a nonprofit mobile ministry offering free pizza and the love of Christ at disaster sites, churches, and pro-life events with pregnancy resource centers. Michele now lives in Louisiana with her husband. She is the proud mother of five (plus one miscarried child in heaven) and grandmother of eight—each a living testament to the life she was never meant to live.

We were privileged to have sisters Michele Smith and Rosemarie Fenchel as our featured speakers for our annual Gala on Thursday evening, October 3, 2024. What a blessing they were to us and the crowd of some 300 who attended! Their stories were moving and presented in a fantastic manner, with a straightforward message of God’s purpose for their lives while incorporating humor and relatable content. I can say without reservation that of the many WRC Galas I have attended for the last 15 years, it was one of the best and most well-received presentations we have been blessed to hear. Both are outstanding women of boldness yet with humility for what God has chosen for their lives. Their message is powerful and resonated with all who attended. I would highly recommend them as speakers but, more importantly, as genuine Christian women whose message of purpose will touch hearts and lives.
Hello, my name is Latasha Thomas, and I am the Director of New Life Crisis Pregnancy Center in Leesville, Louisiana. If I can have a few minutes of your time, I’d like to introduce someone I think would be the perfect speaker for your next event! Michele Smith is a representative of the Abortion Survivor’s Network, the founder of Sabine Parish Citizens for Life, and the co-founder of Louie’s Pizza and Prayer, Inc. She knows all too well how the decision to abort can impact not only the pregnant mother but generations after. Her testimony takes you through her life’s journey of feeling shame, rejection, and a lack of identity to living in the fulness of God’s love after discovering who she truly was in Christ. It is a message that encompasses both the pro-life message of the beauty and importance of life and the need to support it as well as the redemptive story of the gospel—the Lord seeking out his children to show them His love and purpose for them. We were so blessed to have her share at our banquet. Donations and pledges increased 50% over last year’s amount—with less in attendance! Donors reported being greatly touched and inspired in ways they never had been before. Through her humble spirit and obedience to God’s call, she awakens listeners to the necessity of action for life. Inviting Michele to join your next pro-life event is the best decision you could ever make. You will not be disappointed!
Michele's testimony of surviving an abortion, her conversion of faith, and emerging after finding hope and healing is one that your group wants to hear. Michele shares her story with grace and compassion, fueled with a goal of justice and peace. I am proud to recommend Michele as a speaker for you.
Thank you both so much for coming! There has been great discussion in the past couple of weeks, and I’m especially grateful for the conversation your talk sparked with one attendee – she realized she hadn’t coped with the fact that she has four siblings who never made it alive out of the womb. She was extremely moved by your talk, and it really helped her process this. Generally, people were really interested in what you decided to share: the ability to forgive, the greater gratitude you have for your life now, and the way which you view the new lives in your own family. It was different perhaps than what people may have expected, you’re your personal perspective is what really mattered, and exactly what I think we needed on campus.”
