Amy Ford is the Founder and CEO of Embrace Grace, a national nonprofit that equips churches to become places of hope for women and families facing unexpected pregnancies. She is the author of Help Her Be Brave and other books, and speaks nationwide at pregnancy center fundraising galas, church leadership events, women’s conferences, and pro-life gatherings.

At 19 years old, she found herself unexpectedly pregnant, scared, and convinced abortion was her only option. She made the appointment, paid for the abortion, and walked into the clinic believing there was no other way.

Then something unexpected happened.

As she sat waiting for the procedure, Amy passed out in the abortion room. When she woke up, she knew she couldn’t go through with it. She walked out of the clinic, chose life for her son, and never looked back.

Choosing life wasn’t the end of the struggle.

Instead of finding the love and support she desperately needed, Amy often felt alone. Friends drifted away. Shame followed her. Even after she and her boyfriend decided to get married, the pastor of their church refused to perform the ceremony because she was pregnant. Rather than experiencing the Church as a refuge, she often felt like an outsider.

That experience planted a question that would eventually change thousands of lives:

What if the Church became one of the first places a woman ran to instead of the last?

Years later, Amy started a small support group at her church for women facing unexpected pregnancies. What began with a handful of moms has grown into Embrace Grace, equipping more than 1,200 churches across all 50 states and 12 countries to provide practical support, friendship, mentoring, discipleship, and hope in Jesus.

Working alongside pregnancy centers for more than a decade, Amy has seen firsthand how powerful it is when pregnancy centers and churches work together. Pregnancy centers are often the first place a woman turns during a crisis. Churches can become the place where she finds lasting community, discipleship, and support long after her appointment is over.

Amy has been married to her high school sweetheart, Ryan, for over 28 years. Together they lead Embrace Grace, where Ryan serves as Chief Operating Officer. They live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and enjoy spending time with their four children and grandchildren.
